Hello, I’m Marshall, and I want to thank you for visiting my bio page. In 2001, I was one of the founders of the company that is now CapSouth. Over the subsequent 18 years, I spent time in many roles before being name President; these included portfolio management, advisor, compliance, and operations. It feels like I’ve done a little bit of everything at CapSouth, and all of it has been invaluable to understanding our company and our industry. This journey led me to realize that my giftings and the aspects of my work life that I most enjoy are connected to CapSouth’s corporate vision and goals.
As a company, CapSouth aspires to partner with clients to lead them in their financial journey. We believe it is crucial for clients to develop goals, evaluate resources, build a plan to reach goals and adjust as life happens. The role our advisors fulfill for clients is very similar to the role I fulfill for CapSouth; that’s because we know these things are also vital to companies so they can thrive. As President of CapSouth, it is my responsibility to help develop CapSouth’s goals, evaluate opportunities and obstacles, position the company to achieve our goals, and to oversee the corporate aspects of the business so that our advisory teams can focus on assisting clients in their financial journey.
I graduated from Auburn University in 2001 with B.A. degrees in Economics and Finance. In 2005, I earned the right to use the CFA designation. The CFA designation is globally recognized and is considered by many in the financial industry to be one of the most prestigious designations related to investment analysis and management. I also hold the Series 66 designation.
Since 2004, I’ve been married to Mikelyn, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to do life with! In addition to putting up with me, she homeschools our daughter, has an insatiable desire for learning and improvement, and is always willing to help a friend. Dothan is our home; we love hanging out with friends and investing in their lives, especially those in our little neighborhood. Doing life with friends and neighbors and building community, across various differences, is a passion for us both. We also love to travel and are often dreaming of our next vacation. Visiting other places allows us the opportunity to take a break from daily life and to connect as a family, but, perhaps more importantly, it is also a unique opportunity for us to see other cultures, to try new things, to learn new things, and to expand our worldview.
