Hi, I’m Kara, and I’ve been part of the CapSouth team since 2012. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats within the company, from accounting to human resources, trading, and operations. Today, I proudly serve as Chief Operating Officer (or as I sometimes call it, Chief Problem Solver), where I find immense joy in solving problems that make people’s lives better, no matter how big or small.
One of the things I love most about my role is the combination of inventing new solutions while helping others. There’s a special satisfaction when someone approaches me with a problem, and I can work to find a unique solution that brings them joy, relief, or even newfound energy. Another part of my role I have loved has been that of champion of culture. I want CapSouth to be a place where we are excellent at what we do, passionate about serving people, and prioritizing the things that matter the most in life.
CapSouth has been more than a workplace for me; it’s been a place of growth and development. I’ve had the privilege of evolving from a Bookkeeper to COO, all while being supported by strong company values that prioritize family. This balance has allowed me to pursue a fulfilling career without sacrificing time with my loved ones. Moreover, the people at CapSouth are not just colleagues but also genuinely kind, driven, and caring individuals who make me proud to be part of this team.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, participating in church activities, and travelling. As a former basketball player, I still coach sometimes in my local children’s rec league. I’m not the winningest coach, but when the girls I’ve coached years ago come up to me and tell me I was their favorite coach, suddenly the winning percentage doesn’t matter anymore.
I’m excited to continue growing with CapSouth and helping improve the lives of our clients and our team every day, in much the same way I get to impact those young girls as a coach. Let’s give everything we’ve got, be proud of who we are and what we do, and find ways to make those around us better in the bargain.
