SCOTT MCDOWALL, CFP®
Scott has been with CapSouth since January of 2010. As a Wealth Advisor, he is responsible for managing private client relationships, with the goal of utilizing industry leading tools to assist clients in making confident and sound financial decisions allowing them to define and to live their One Best Financial Life®.
With a strong background in the areas of financial and estate planning, charitable planning and tax planning, Scott has an enhanced ability to work with clients’ legal and tax advisors to guide clients through their options and to help better prepare them to meet their stated goals and objectives.
Scott holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and marketing from Troy University. He has obtained the prestigious Certified Financial Planner™ designation, and he holds various insurance licenses in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida.
Scott grew up in southeast Alabama, and began his career with CapSouth in Dothan, Alabama, where he resided for ten years. In response to the needs of the firm and to his own personal goals, Scott relocated to the metro Atlanta area in April, 2017. With strong family ties and a love for the area, he expanded into the North Georgia mountains over the last several years. Scott has now settled near family in Blairsville, Georgia, and splits his time between Blairsville and metro Atlanta.
Valuing community involvement and giving back, Scott has actively participated in local Chambers of Commerce and professional and religious organizations. He currently serves as a Children’s Legacy Advisor for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Henry, a program through the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. Scott has served as Treasurer and Professional Development Director for the Dothan Area Young Professionals, President of the Southeast Alabama Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, and as a member of the Regional Advisory Board for the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries.
In his free time, you are likely to find Scott spending time with family, riding and caring for his horses, kayaking a river, traveling, or working around the farm.
